Indigo Tribe

My name is Ash, and I was with Circle of the Moon, the mother coven of AmTrad, for four years. I circled out and spent the last two years exploring life, the world, and my path as a solitaire in the tradition before deciding to form a study group. I currently reside in San Marcos (just south of Austin) and teach English at a local high school, at which I am lucky enough to be open about my religious path with both students and faculty.

I feel the value of AmTrad as a tradition is not only the emphasis placed on unity and family, but also the encouragement to study many pantheons and cultures. Doing so develops an appreciation for our diversity and an awareness of the deep connection between all peoples of the world. One of the reasons I work within such an eclectic tradition is my belief that every culture in the world has something valuable to offer. I am a priestess dedicated to Hecate, a goddess from the Greek tradition, but I commonly work with deities from African, Hebrew, Hindu, and Celtic pantheons as well. I plan to encourage this exploration of our world in my students as well and help them find the deities who call to them most strongly.

I will accept a small number of students and begin classes in spring. These classes will focus on topics ranging from history of the Craft and the Wheel of the Year to divination and energy work. While working on their rainbow year, the study group will also celebrate full moons and sabbats together. After completing these classes, self-dedication, and observing a full turn of the year, students may ask for initiation. It is hoped that during this year-long process, strong and unique bonds will be formed, and we will be not only coven mates and friends but a clan as well.

I hope this coven will be a pathway to the wisdom the God and Goddess have to offer. I consider myself a lifelong student and place a high value on spiritual development through the gathering and sharing of knowledge. I often learn as much from my students as they learn from me, and I look forward to what I will discover from teaching others of the Old Ways.
